exclusive-tobermore-design-service-proves-successful-for-akp-constructionCrosbie Towers is an exclusive new development of apartments from AKP Construction in Troon, South Ayrshire.

Originally built for a successful wine merchant, the site is a listed building and was recently redeveloped into ten stunning properties that combine period-themed architecture with contrasting contemporary features. The hard landscaping was a critical factor in achieving the traditional style envisioned for the premises whilst also meeting essential SuDS requirements. Tobermore helped the contractor meet both these objectives with the provision of high quality paving with a rustic finish and a permeable block paving solution.

Situated on the seafront, the apartments at Crosbie Towers were crafted with the finest materials and offer spectacular view across the Firth of Clyde to Arran and round the coast to Ayr. The external aesthetics of the site was hugely important and so AKP Construction sought advice from Tobermore on the hard landscaping options available.

Long-standing landscape designer at Tobermore, Beth Moore, provided a design service for AKP Construction which convinced the contractor that Tobermore products were the ideal solution for Crosbie Towers. Beth created a design consisting of Tobermore’s Tegula Trio, a block paving product with an aged, antique appearance, and Textured Flags, a slab product with a natural, granular surface, to produce a traditional look.

This was combined with Hydropave Shannon Duo, a permeable paving product, to meet the SuDS requirements on site. The beauty of Tobermore’s permeable paving product is that these products are manufactured with the same aesthetics as the non-permeable product equivalent so style is never compromised. Tobermore’s Kerbstone was also included in the design to complete the traditional hard landscaping theme as Kerbstone is manufactured with a beautiful, tumbled finish.
