supply chains put on course Insulation specialist Celotex has launched a comprehensive range of thermal bridging models for its industry leading PIR insulation products. Available online and free to use, the models give architects, specifiers and designers the precise information they need to create a thermally efficient building envelope and prevent heat loss at junctions and openings.

Thermal bridges are caused by breaks in the insulation at junctions and openings can account for 15% of the total heat loss over an entire building. As insulation standards have evolved, and with the rise of high performance PIR products, it has become increasingly critical to eliminate heat loss in these areas.

This new tool from Celotex provides the user with specific Psi values for Celotex PIR insulation across multiple applications. These can then be used in SAP calculations to work out the expected carbon emissions and fabric energy efficiency over the course of a year, and to help to seal the thermal performance envelope.

“Celotex thermal bridging models directly influence the fabric of the building through good thermal performance and airtightness through junctions and around openings,” said Rob Warren, Head of Technical at Celotex. “It allows for thinner build ups with minimal engineering, less renewable energy technology and heat recovery systems.”

Renowned for unrivalled technical support, the insulation specialists now provide a comprehensive toolset for Celotex Members, with both the Celotex U-value calculator and thermal bridging models. Helping users to understand insulation requirements, Celotex thermal bridging models will maximise the energy efficiency of a building by sealing the thermal performance envelope.
