Space Air Solutions Ltd and their clients Design and Construct and Abbey Care Group won “Commercial Installation of the Year” for the Moreland House Care Home’s Daikin Altherma Flex heat Pump based central heating system, at the prestigious National Heat Pump Awards held at Birmingham’s ICC in June.
Moreland House is a 60-bedroom property that has been the subject of a painstaking conversion/refurbishment programme undertaken by the Contractors, Design & Construct Ltd, on behalf of the Abby Total Care Group.
M&E consultants BWS Partnership of Epsom specified the Daikin Altherma High Temperature Flex central heating system as supplied by Space Air because it proved to be the only air source heat pump system capable of meeting all the client’s needs.
Space Air Solutions provided a detailed computer simulation showing the potential running costs & C02 usage of the heat pump system compared to alternative systems. The use of low water temperature fan assisted radiators, as opposed to conventional radiators, maximises operating efficiency and reduces demand response times, leading to lower energy consumption and carbon emissions. In addition, the Daikin Altherma system supplied by Space Air Solutions Ltd. is fitted with wattmeters to monitor energy use. The company also supplied a unique prefabricated piping assembly kit to simply the installation process.
The Daikin Altherma Flex system has a 3-year Daikin warranty, which can be extended on request, subject to an annual ‘health check’ conducted by Space Air technicians. Space Air Solutions has agreed to visit Moreland House Care Home three times per year to monitor the system and take energy readings. The company will also advise on any opportunities to further enhance the operating efficiency of the systems going forward.
After commissioning the system, Space Air Solutions dedicated a full day to training the owners of Moreland House Care Home. A complete set of user manuals and operating guides were supplied which is standard Space Air Solutions procedure.
Design & Construct Ltd are extremely happy with the installation and the projected cost savings from the Daikin Altherma Flex systems.
