Major housing provider joins national green group
CityWest Homes, one of London’s largest Arms Length Management Organisations (ALMO), has joined the nationwide sustainability initiative, SHIFT.
SHIFT is the environmental benchmark methodology used to assess an organisation’s sustainability credentials. Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow (SHIFT) counts the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), WWF, the Mayor of London and UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) among its supporters.
Peter Armfield, Sustainability Manager at CityWest, said: “CityWest Homes is committed to the sustainability agenda. We already run one of the UK’s largest community Combined Heat and Power district heating systems and we have many initiatives underway to help our residents lead more sustainable lives. We are delighted to be a SHIFT member so we can demonstrate our commitment in a nationally recognised manner.”
Andrew Eagles, Managing Director of Sustainable Homes also welcomed the ALMO, saying: “We are very pleased to welcome CityWest to SHIFT. CityWest is an environmentally conscious organisation with a great commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable procurement”
SHIFT scheme is the independent assessment methodology organisations use to gauge their environmental performance. The SHIFT Index is administrated by Sustainable Homes. Members are accredited on a scale of Bronze to Platinum. In addition to CityWest Homes over 50 other organisations are involved throughout the UK.
Corporate partners associated with SHIFT include Diamond Build, H+H, Inside Housing, Kingspan Potton, Mears, SolarTech, Devonshires Solicitors and VPhase.
