Incredible 90% saving on water usage
Toilet flushing accounts for 30% of all water used in the house - a massive 50 litres per person per day!
JETS AS has been the leading innovator of vacuum sanitation since 1986 and in the last 20 years JETS has supplied more than 150,000 toilets. The JETS Vacuumarator pump is the most compact, efficient, robust and reliable vacuum generator for vacuum toilets and in addition macerates the waste and pumps it away in one operation. It has a very small footprint and a low energy requirement, on average 4KwH per person, per year.
The JETS toilet system has major advantages when compared to conventional gravity toilets. The system uses air to transport waste, rather than water, through small bore pipes (typically 50mm). As little as 0.8l of water per flush is needed for rinsing, achieving savings of up to 90% when compared with traditional gravity methods.
Building owners will benefit by the massive reduction in water usage and, therefore, costs, not only in monetary terms, but in environmental impact due to the costs of purification, pumping and associated decrease in the disposal and processing of waste. Additional benefits include reduced pipe costs, greater flexibility in planning and installation, together with improved hygiene resulting from the suction of up to 60 litres of air during flushing, taking smells and bacteria into the sealed system. Unlike some ‘low flush’ toilets, with vacuum each flush is quick, efficient and total.
Designers benefit by being able to place pipe runs in small spaces, avoid obstacles and place toilets independently on each floor. Without the restrictions of gravity the designer has complete flexibility, even being able to take pipe runs upwards if necessary - a great advantage especially in the refurbishment of older buildings.
JETS vacuum systems for land and transport sectors are distributed in the UK by Otter Vacuum Systems.
