TLX Gold chosen for major roofing project at The Priory

TLX Gold, the World’s only combined two-in-one breathable multi-foil and roofing underlay has been installed at Thornford Park secure hospital as part of the first phase of a major re-roof project for The Priory Group.

More than 1,000 square metres of Web Dynamics’ TLX Gold has been installed as a standalone roof insulation upgrade. TLX Gold was chosen as it:

• delivered a better U-value solution to meet current building regulations

• managed the issue of maintaining the roofline of the building

• presented an insulation and roofing underlay, two-in-one installation solution

• enabled the installation to take place with minimal disruption to patients and staff.

The installation of TLX Gold, which achieved ETA* (European Technical Approval) earlier this year, was carried out by roofing contractors Bowller Group and a further four roofs are to be completed as part of the project.

TLX Gold is just 33mm thick and helps overcome technical and structural problems of raising a roof line. It enables renovation work to be completed with minimal disruption where many alternatives on the market require modifications to the inside or outside profile of the roof which isn’t always an option.

TLX Gold also controls water vapour and air movement and will allow a building to `breathe’ – delivering a comfortable and energy efficient environment. The product, which is available in a 1.2m width and 10m length, has been designed to reflect heat back into a building to conserve maximum energy and has proved popular for traditionally hard to insulate buildings.

Commenting on the installation, Alistair Forbes of Forbes Associates, building surveyors for the project, said: “Although we have specified multi-foils before this was the first time we have used TLX Gold. The product offers time and costs savings as it doubles up as a sarking felt too. The two-in-one product worked well and the installation was completed in keeping with the schedule. It is a unique product that tackled a number of issues for us and we believe it tackled them well.”

Manufactured in the UK, the TLX range of multi-foil insulation has achieved LABC Registered System status and is fast and simple to install. Web Dynamics’ technical team will provide advice on which insulation construction to use and the company offers U-value and condensation risk calculations and can answer queries concerning specification or installation of any of the TLX range.
