Smart move as girl's day school trust instructs second project
Ventrolla has completed its second sash window renovation project for the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST).
After a successful scheme at Sheffield High School last year, the company was instructed to renovate 26 windows at the GDST’s historic Central Newcastle High School.
Work was carried out in two phases, starting with repairs while the school was still operating and then two weeks of activity during the holidays.
Defective timbers were replaced and matched closely to the building’s original materials and Ventrolla installed its unique Perimeter Sealing System to improve energy efficiency, eliminate rattles and reduce external noise penetration.
Stephen Greenhalgh, Building Surveyor for the Girls’ Day School Trust, said: “We continue to be impressed with the high standard of workmanship from Ventrolla and the efficiency gains achieved through having properly sealed windows.
“Our renovated windows not only look smart but they are easy to operate and prevent unnecessary heat loss, which will help reduce the school’s overall energy costs.”
Central Newcastle High School was founded in 1895. It is situated on three sites boasting a range of buildings with many original features and impressive facilities.
The school has enjoyed over a century of academic excellence and provides continuity of education for girls aged between three and 18 years old. It is part of the GDST which educates over 20,000 girls at 26 schools throughout England and Wales.
Ventrolla offers a bespoke renovation service for timber sliding sash and casement windows as well as timber doors.
