GEC Anderson sinktops provide design flexibility at art gallery learning studio

Saturday, 15 January 2011

Design freedom and product flexibility was high on the architect’s agenda when specifying a mix of stainless steel sink tops for the new education centre and artist studio at Watts Gallery, Compton, Surrey.

GEC Anderson’s manufactured a mix of Made to Measure sinktops for the workshop area and Decimetric standard sinks for the artist studio. The customised sink tops arrived on site in two continuous pieces and incorporated a lower level top to comply with DDA requirements and cater for children working in the studio. Intregal plaster and sand traps segregated the paints/sands being used in class from the waste water.

GEC Anderson’s Decimetric free standing stainless steel sinktop was chosen for the Artist’s Studio. Manufactured from domestic grade stainless steel it included a lipped front, side edges and square section stainless steel legs.

Mark Edmunds, Quantity Surveyor for Blenheim House Construction said: “GEC Anderson was very professional in their approach to the project, delivering on time and to the correct specification.”

For the architect, stainless steel was the obvious choice for this busy educational space as it is hard wearing, hygienic and maintenance free. They had also worked with GEC Anderson on previous projects.
