Sustainable Homes' Andrew Eagles shortlisted as finalist for the 2010 Sustainable Housing Awards
Andrew Eagles, Managing Director of Hastoe Group subsidiary Sustainable Homes Limited, has been shortlisted in the Green Social Housing Champion of the Year category of The Sustainable Housing Awards 2010, organised by Inside Housingmagazine and its sister publication Sustainable Housing.
This awards scheme focuses on the best “green” social housing projects constructed in the UK, and the organisations responsible for them. The trophies will be presented at a suitably “eco” awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in London’s Park Lane on Friday 22ndOctober.
Sue Chalkley, Hastoe Chief Executive said: “We nominated Andrew for this award because of his passion for protecting our climate and his overriding concern to encourage the delivery of practical solutions. Andrew lives and breathes the Green Agenda, he has influenced the performance of housing associations with nearly 1 million homes – an incredible impact for one man. Andrew really cares about people and works tirelessly to help them make the connection that sustainable social housing means better and more affordable homes to live in.”
Ted Stevens, Inside Housing’s events director, and the organiser of the awards said: “We’ve had a terrific response, with hundreds of entries and Andrew has done brilliantly to get shortlisted from such a huge field.”
Sustainable Homes have been nominated for their popular accredited Code for Sustainable Homes and low carbon retrofitting training. They also manage a best practise group for affordable housing providers called the Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow (SHIFT). SHIFT, which helps affordable housing providers adapt to and mitigate climate change now has one million affordable homes under membership.
