Support for renewable energy technology solutions
Daikin UK Collaborates with The Energy Saving Trust to Support the promotion of Renewable Energy Technology
The Energy Saving Trust is a non profit organisation that provides free impartial advice to home owners on how to improve energy efficiency to save on fuel bills and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions released from the home and when travelling.
To help deliver this message, the Energy Saving Trust actively engage home owners and end users through face to face contact at events and the Energy Saving Trust free phone advice line.
The Energy Saving Trust advice centre East of England has recently commissioned an interactive energy saving exhibition trailer. The new Energy Saving Trust interactive trailer contains several examples of the latest energy efficient technologies that help demonstrate new ways to save energy, reduce costs and reduce CO2 emissions.
Daikin UK were very supportive of this initiative and have provided a fully operational air source heat pump, the Daikin Altherma Split system. The system was installed by Rothwell Plumbing Services; a Daikin Altherma trained installer in Wigan, Greater Manchester. Daikin Altherma Low Temperature Split system is a certified Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) product and Rothwell Plumbing Services are an approved MCS installer. When installing an MCS product, both criteria must be met to qualify for grants under the Low Carbon Building Programme.
The Energy Saving Trust trailer also features other exhibits such as a driving simulator – virtual driving game which teaches smarter driving tips to help reduce fuel bills by up to 15% - a working solar panel and wind turbine working models.
The new Energy Saving Trust exhibition trailer is used by Energy Saving Trust advice centres across the country, Local Authorities and other organisations to help educate people, and encourage them to play an important part in the fight against climate change by reducing our personal CO2 emissions at home and when travelling. The practical hands-on demonstration kits and the working units aim to improve people’s awareness on energy efficient solutions available today, and demonstrate just how easy it is to reduce CO2 emissions and get the benefits of significant reductions in home energy bills.
“At Daikin we are aware that the majority of the public are still not really familiar with air source heat pump technology and just how effective it can be to reduce energy costs, particularly as fossil fuel prices continue to increase. Supporting initiatives to increase awareness of renewable energy technologies by the Energy Saving Trust is something that we are right behind,” says Scott Dorrall, Director Daikin UK.
“Over 40% of carbon dioxide emissions are produced as a result of our every day personal energy use, whilst at home and when travelling. CO2 emissions are one of the main green house gases which cause climate change. That’s why it’s so important that we all help fight climate change by reducing the amount of energy we use every day. One way we can do this, and save money on fuel bills, is to install energy efficient heating systems in our houses; such as an air source heat pump.
We are very grateful to Daikin for supporting our cause, by supplying a working Daikin Altherma air source heat pump for use in our exhibition trailer. This has enabled the Energy Saving Trust to show the public exactly what an air source heat pump is and how it works.”
