It’s raining money with Rotex’s Variocistern

Monday, 18 January 2010

Rotex, a world leader in the provision of groundbreaking commercial and domestic green systems, offers the Variocistern, a rainwater harvesting system that can cut water consumption by up to 50%.

The system is made up of 750 or 1,000 litre tanks that can be slotted together to meet the needs of any sized building. It collects rainwater from rooftops, sends it through a rigorous system of filtration and stores it for later use.

After filtering, the rainwater held in the Variocistern can be used in toilets, sinks and even household appliances such as washing machines. The special design of the storage tanks ensures no sunlight penetration, eliminating the possibility of algae build-up within the system. This ensures hygienic water and means that the system needs little to no cleaning or maintenance.

Alongside slashing water bills, the system is extremely beneficial to the environment. Pumping water to homes requires a considerable amount of energy and Variocistern also reduces the amount of rainwater runoff into drainage – which is a leading cause of flooding.

A central part of any environmentally friendly home, the Variocistern is only one element of Rotex’s eco-friendly range of products, which also includes solar panels, energy efficient boilers and more.
