Mtech Consult & Galliford Try to deliver Offsite in action
In an exciting development for Ecobuild, Mtech Consult and Galliford Try have joined forces to create an innovative Offsite feature at Ecobuild 2010.
The companies will design, specify and construct a 2 storey generic building inside Earls Court, entirely using Offsite methods and systems emphasising the significant environmental benefits that innovative Offsite systems and techniques can deliver. In completing the 70sqm building, Mtech and Galliford Try expect to draw on products and services from between 12 to 15 specialist Offsite manufacturers from across the UK.
Mtech will use its expertise to identify, source, develop and specify Offsite systems to maximise their cumulative benefits in areas such as the building’s environmental performance, build time and whole life costs; as the construction contractor, Galliford Try will integrate the Offsite products and methods in the build phase to deliver a superior finished building whilst reducing site duration, waste, noise and deliveries, plus improving site environmental and H&S compliance.
This innovative approach will demonstrate that Offsite is not just about individual components; rather it’s a practical, efficient and effective construction method, combining appropriate Offsite techniques and systems is proven to deliver significant cost and performance improvements, making compliance with increasingly stringent environmental and performance criteria more certain.
It’s an approach that has worked effectively for Galliford Try before, explains Paul Jackson, Galliford Try Construction South’s Head of Business Development: “We collaborated with Mtech on the redevelopment of St Pancras Renaissance Hotel using their expertise to identify where Offsite techniques could deliver time and cost savings; the systems we selected have achieved that, and more, for us.”
