Double award celebration for Surestop
Surestop Ltd, the Solihull based manufacturer of the Surestop Water switch have had double cause to celebrate.
Firstly, as an exhibitor at the recent Interbuild Exhibition at the NEC, they walked away with an Interbuild ‘Best at Show’ Product Award which was followed three weeks later with Surestop winning the "Achievement through Innovation" category of the Lord Stafford Awards at the Motor Heritage Centre.
Winning the Interbuild ‘Best at Show’ Product Award rounded off a very busy week for Surestop who had a constant stream of specifiers and installers visiting their stand at the exhibition. The awards were judged by Robin Hood-Leeder, Director of Membership Services at The Federation of Master Builders who commented: “With today’s concerns about energy, sustainability and the conservation of water, this product makes a valuable contribution by giving households the ability to quickly and easily shut off their water supplies on emergencies and for maintenance purposes. The Surestop can be utilised by a diverse audience and could have a great impact on the marketplace.”
Surestop also tasted success at the Lord Stafford Awards. The Awards, developed in 1997, exist to recognise and encourage the development of collaborative relationships between Businesses and Universities. The, Achievement Through Innovation category was won by Surestop Ltd and Birmingham City University for their collaboration which allowed Surestop to access the technical expertise of the University and in particular its rapid prototyping technology and equipment.
Lord Stafford, patron of the awards, said: “This is the twelfth year the Lord Stafford Awards has been held here in the West Midlands and it seems that every year the quality of the winners improves.
This year’s crop of winners is incredibly impressive and show that even during a time of economic recession, innovation is still happening and collaborations between universities and businesses continuing to drive the development of new products, processes and services.
“The Surestop device will be hugely beneficial to the elderly and disabled who need to switch off their water supplies in a hurry and is already making a massive difference.”
The Surestop consists of a valve which connects directly into the water supply which is connected by flexible tubing to a remote switch, which is located in a convenient position for the user. You then simply press the switch to turn the water supply on or off.
