Multi million pound deal in partnership with WT Burden Middle East for Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai

Hanson Formpave, in partnership with WT Burden Middle East, has announced its biggest project win to date with a multi million pound deal to design, manufacture and supply its industry-leading permeable paving for a new, prestigious golfing estate in Dubai. This is believed to be the largest permeable paving contract in the world and secures Hanson Formpave's reputation as a market-leading supplier of sustainable paving solutions both nationally and internationally.

The client, Jumeirah Golf Estates, has specified Hanson Formpave's total Aquaflow system and all its component parts including the unique Formpave Inbitex geotextile and Formpave SC Integrid that make up the advanced SUDS solution. A staggering 250,0002 meters of Hanson Formpave's Aquasett blocks are required for this project and is being produced locally in Sharjah under a manufacturing partnership. Implementation is scheduled to start next month. Working closely with the project manager, engineering consultant, client and contractors, Hanson Formpave takes the lead with its specialist team to manage the project between all parties in the supply chain to ensure that block production meets the company's strict standards and excellent quality.

The hugely anticipated Jumeirah Golf Estates comprises a luxury housing and four Championship Golf courses based on a Fire, Earth, Wind and Water theme. Course designers include Greg Norman, Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia and the father of modern golf course design, Pete Dye. The Earth course designed by Greg Norman is set to host the richest tournament in golf this November 19th - 22nd with the Dubai World Championship at the climax of The Race to Dubai.

Hanson Formpave's permeable paving will be installed in driveways of the houses, all the pathways and car parks across the complex as well as the residential roads. The permeable paving system is an ideal solution for this application as it is very low maintenance and provides efficient flood prevention on the roadways across the complex. Traditional drainage was not an option due to the large quantities of sand and dust around the site that would have caused persistent blocking in conventional drainage systems.

"We are extremely delighted to have won this contract and to be associated with this prestigious project; it is a very exciting time for us," said Steve Spikes, development director at Hanson Formpave. "This is a real achievement and testament to the hard work and efforts from our sales, design and production team. This installation in Dubai reflects the proven performance, versatility and durability of our permeable paving and SUDS solution."

Other stakeholders involved in this project include civil engineering and building materials supplier WT Burden Middle East; project manager and engineering consultant Mott MacDonald; road contractors Ascon; and the client Jumeirah Golf Estates.
