New landmarks for Big Yellow and Chancerygate

Offsetting carbon emissions is a growing consideration for any developer, planner or facilities manager. A favoured small scale wind solution is Proven Energy's new 15 kW wind turbine. Photon Energy has recently installed seven of the turbines in high-profile projects in London and Milton Keynes.

Photon Energy completed two projects in collaboration with Southern Electric Contracting (SEC): the installation of a single turbine for Big Yellow Self Storage recently at their new site in Barking, East London; and a further two turbines for a new Chancerygate Business Centre in Milton Keynes.

Photon Energy also installed four 15kW turbines for Chancerygate at a new site in west London. The turbines will be a prominent landmark for travellers to and from London Paddington Station as they are next to the main railway line.

The seven turbines will each generate some 23,000 kWh of electricity each year for the next 25 years - a total saving of over 2,000 tons of the global warming gas, carbon dioxide.

It is fantastic that forward looking companies such as Chancerygate and Big Yellow are demonstrating a real commitment to renewable energy and, perhaps more importantly, showing that these projects can be easily integrated into a large construction programme."

Current demand shows that they are no longer only being used in rural environments but that wind turbines are being accepted as a mainstream consideration for developers and facilities managers".
